Third grade students receive lessons in Spanish twice a week for 40 minutes.
Third graders focus on on communication in all areas: reading, speaking, listening and writing, with an emphasis on listening and speaking. We make books, work on projects, present short dialogues, and play games! We begin class with a warm-up, usually a calendar activity or review of vocabulary. After the warm up, we will play a game as a class or in small groups to get the students speaking in the target language. We end class with individual writing practice or a craft. At this point, students should be able to understand when I speak to them in only Spanish and be able to respond to my questions in the target language. Third graders will take a recognition vocabulary quiz at the end of each unit.
